How To Use This Book
This book is not intended to be read like a normal book. It is closer to a study manual than a narrative. While most of the relevant scriptures are quoted directly on the page, the reader should always remember that the authority is the Bible, not the explanations in this book. The purpose of the book is to bring scriptures together, place them in context, and show how they fit into a single, consistent framework from Genesis to Revelation.
Check Your Scripture
Readers are encouraged to check the scriptures for themselves. One verse on its own can often be interpreted in many different ways, but when all scriptures on the same subject are considered together, and in context, the range of possible meanings narrows significantly. The Bible must agree with itself. Any explanation that creates contradictions elsewhere in scripture must be wrong, no matter how widely it is taught.
King James Version
A note should be made regarding Bible translations. This book primarily uses the King James Version. It is not a perfect translation, but many modern translations take significant liberties in passages that are difficult to reconcile with mainstream theology. In some cases, wording has been altered to make passages align with accepted doctrine rather than preserving the original meaning as closely as possible. Readers should study from whatever Bible they normally use, but carefully compare wording where passages are important to the argument.
This book should be read in order from beginning to end. The argument builds step by step, and later chapters assume understanding from earlier ones. Some chapters may require rereading, and certain sections may not be fully understood until later in the book. This is normal. Understanding develops as the overall structure becomes clearer.
This volume is the first of three related books. Hebrews For Today explains who the servants of God are, the Order under which Christ operates, and what is required of those who serve the living God. The second book, New Covenant For Today, explains the message they carry: the Kingdom of God, the Millennium, and the New Covenant as one and the same system. The third book, Revelation For Today, explains the sequence of events that lead to the establishment of that Kingdom. These books are intended to be read in that order.
This book will not be of interest to everyone. Many people read the Bible for reassurance, tradition, or general encouragement. This book is written for those who want to understand what the Bible actually says, what God is doing, and what He expects from those who serve Him. Knowledge in the Bible is never given simply for interest; it is given for a purpose and for action.
If you read this book carefully, you will eventually be faced with a simple question: if this is what the Bible says, what are you going to do about it?
This book cannot answer that question for you, but it is written for those who know that understanding the Bible correctly must eventually lead to action.
